JOB INFORMATION

HeyTutor has partnered with a school district in Harlem, NY, and we’re hiring 19 Math & ELA tutors to support students in grades K–8 during after-school and weekend hours.
You’ll help close learning gaps with structured small-group instruction using HeyTutor’s curriculum and tools.

You must be comfortable completing an in-person background check (district requirements may include fingerprinting).

If you’re passionate about education, want consistent weekly hours (20–22 hrs/week), and love helping students thrive, this is the perfect opportunity.


JOB DUTIES

  • Lead small groups of students (without a teacher present) using program-provided curriculum and materials.
  • Prepare your space and materials to start each session on time.
  • Take attendance and run lessons via the HeyTutor Dashboard (if applicable).
  • Track student progress in the Dashboard and provide quick notes after sessions.
  • When requested, facilitate students taking baseline and summative assessments.
  • Create an engaging, supportive environment that promotes positive behavior and belonging.
  • Actively engage alongside students during tutoring activities.
  • Clock in/out daily in Deputy for scheduled shifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by HeyTutor, your manager, and/or the school site.
  • (If requested by the site) Safely pick up and return students from designated campus areas.

SCHEDULE

  • Monday–Thursday: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Friday: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Total: ~20–22 hours/week (actual hours may vary by site and student group assignments)
     


REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Must have completed a bachelors degree
  • Experience tutoring or working with children; comfortable managing a small group in a classroom setting
    Ability to pass a clear background check (facilitated through HeyTutor/district)
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional; strong communication with site staff and HeyTutor team
     


PAY

$32–$38 per hour, based on a combination of education and experience.
